Meet Mallory Craig-Karim

Mallory Craig-Karim is a Somerville resident, mom, attorney, and community advocate running for Borough Council. She and her wife are raising their young daughter in Somerville, and Mallory is personally committed to the future of the community they call home. For Mallory, this campaign is personal. She wants Somerville to remain a place where families feel supported, public spaces are cared for, and local government stays focused on the everyday needs of residents.

Professionally, Mallory leads U.S. mergers and acquisitions for a global healthcare organization, where she works on complex governance, regulatory, and long term planning matters. Her career has centered on helping institutions navigate important decisions with discipline, transparency, and a clear focus on long term outcomes. Before assuming her current role, she practiced law at leading firms and also trained in public sector positions.

In Somerville, Mallory is actively involved in community life. She helps with Environmental Commission cleanup days, and can often be seen walking her dog, Beau, along Main Street. She is also actively involved with the Somerville Democratic Committee and believes strongly in showing up, listening, and participating in the civic life of the Borough.

Mallory is running for Borough Council because she believes this is an important moment for Somerville. As a mom, she cares deeply about the decisions being made now that will shape the Borough in which her daughter will grow up. She wants to help strengthen Somerville’s public spaces, support practical investments in local infrastructure, and push for funding to restore and reopen the downstairs of the Somerville library building, including the children’s section, so that families once again have full access to one of the community’s most important resources.

Mallory believes Somerville benefits from practical leadership, careful decision making, and a clear focus on protecting what makes the Borough special while preparing it for the future.
