Meet Glen Denys
Glen Denys is a lifelong Somerville resident, educator, and current Councilmember running for re-election. He was born and raised in town, attended Somerville’s public schools, and has remained deeply connected to the community throughout his life.
After graduating from Muhlenberg College with a degree in English and K to 8 teacher certification, Glen worked as a classroom teacher and later earned a master’s degree in Environmental Science. He returned to Somerville with his wife, Ruth, in 2007, and they are now raising their two sons here. As a family, they enjoy biking through town and spending time in Somerville’s parks and along the Greenway.
Glen has long been active in community life. Since 2020, he has served on the Environmental Commission, where he has helped review and shape ordinances and has volunteered in cleanups, tree plantings, and educational events. He also served on the Ad Hoc Flood Advisory Committee. He remains active in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and has a strong record of service through camp leadership, environmental work, and local civic engagement.
As a current Councilmember, Glen serves as a Fire Commissioner and vice chair of the Public Works Committee. He also serves as liaison to the Somerset County Recycling Committee, Sewerage Authority, Raritan River Greenway, Office of Emergency Management, Redevelopment, and the Environmental Commission. Glen is running for re-election because he believes Somerville benefits from steady, thoughtful leadership grounded in local knowledge and a long-term commitment to the Borough.
